About the tides at Ferry Point (bridge)

Ferry Point (bridge) has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads. Water here rises and falls only about 1.7 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.6 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 1.2 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.8 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Tettington, 4 mi away. For tidal currents, see Chickahominy River Bridge.

Predictions are based on Sewells Point, Hampton Roads.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
