About the tides at Colburn Creek
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Water here rises and falls only about 1.7 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is larger than most Maryland stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.9 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 1.0 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.9 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −1.0 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Long Point, 0.6 mi away, where high tide comes about 20 min later.
