About the tides at Content Keys
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.1 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. On a typical day the water moves about 2.8 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.6 ft, comes on Monday, and the smallest, 2.7 ft, on October 20. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.4 ft on October 29 and bottom out at −1.3 ft on January 21.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Key West, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Raccoon Key, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 34 min later.
