About the tides at Cruz Pass
Cruz Pass has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound. With a mean range of about 7.7 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 12.1 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 3.1 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 12.7 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.3 ft on July 5.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Shinaku Inlet, 7 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later. For tidal currents, see San Christoval Rock.
Predictions are based on Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
