About the tides at Damariscove Harbor
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Portland, casco Bay. With a mean range of about 8.5 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 12.0 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 5.9 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.2 ft on December 25 and bottom out at −1.8 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Portland, casco Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Boothbay Harbor, 6 mi away. For tidal currents, see Damariscotta River, off Cavis Point.
Predictions are based on Portland, casco Bay.
