About the tides at Dock Thorofare
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.8 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean. On a typical day the water moves about 3.9 ft between high and low. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 4.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.5 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 3.0 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.6 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Pleasantville, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later. For tidal currents, see Absecon Inlet.
Predictions are based on Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean.
