About the tides at Double Creek

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Double Creek, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The mean range is small, about 0.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 0.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 0.3 ft.

Double Creek is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 183 min and lows about 213 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Flat Creek, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 30 min later.
