About the tides at Dover Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.6 ft. With a mean range of about 6.3 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.9 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 6.2 ft, on Saturday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Portland, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Atlantic Heights, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 56 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Dover Point, west of.

Predictions are based on Portland.
