About the tides at Doyle Point
Doyle Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Portland, casco Bay. With a mean range of about 8.8 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.6 ft on December 25 and bottom out at −1.6 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Portland, casco Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Prince Point, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Littlejohn Island, South of Town Ledge.
Predictions are based on Portland, casco Bay.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
