About the tides at Dupont Wharf
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 2.2 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. With a mean range of about 9.5 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Washington stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.3 ft, comes on Tuesday, and the smallest, 10.5 ft, on October 21. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.7 ft on January 25 and bottom out at −4.1 ft on December 24.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Sandy Point Anderson Island, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 13 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Nisqually Reach, 0.5 miles South of Lyle Point.
Predictions are based on Seattle, Puget Sound.
