About the tides at East Pass (Destin)

Tides at Destin, East Pass are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 0.6 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 0.8 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 0.3 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.0 ft on October 2 and bottom out at −0.3 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1993 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Okaloosa Island, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 12 m earlier.
