About the tides at Eastport
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Passamaquoddy Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 18.3 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 19.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 21.8 ft on January 23, and the lowest is −2.6 ft on January 23.
Passamaquoddy Bay is a NOAA water level station with a live gauge, updated every 6 minutes. Predictions come from the station's own tide records. It also reports water temperature, wind and air pressure. It was established in 1929. The nearest other station is Welshpool, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later. For tidal currents, see Eastport, Friar Roads.
