About the tides at Coffins Point
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Coffin Point, Coffin Neck, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. Coffins Point sees a mean range of about 17.3 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 18.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 21.6 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 12.2 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 20.4 ft on December 25 and bottom out at −2.3 ft on August 4.
Predictions for Coffins Point come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here in 1985 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Birch Islands, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 27 min later. For tidal currents, see Estes Head, Eastport.
