About the tides at False Bay

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Chatham Strait, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. False Bay sees a mean range of about 12.5 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.1 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 18.8 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 9.8 ft, on Friday.
