About the tides at Fishermans Island
Fishermans Island has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The average range is about 2.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Virginia stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 3.9 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.4 ft on September 30, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 23.
Fishermans Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel: highs come about 2 min and lows about 11 min later than there.
