About the tides at Old Plantation Light

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. On a typical day the water moves about 2.3 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.0 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 1.6 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.4 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
