About the tides at Florida Power

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Cedar Key, Gulf of Mexico. On a typical day the water moves about 2.9 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.2 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 2.4 ft, on Tuesday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.9 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on December 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Cedar Key, Gulf of Mexico, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Shell Island, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 45 min later.

Predictions are based on Cedar Key, Gulf of Mexico.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
