About the tides at Folly Creek
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Ocean City, Fishing Pier. On a typical day the water moves about 3.4 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Virginia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.2 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 2.7 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.8 ft on November 25 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ocean City, Fishing Pier, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Metompkin Inlet, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 23 min earlier.
Predictions are based on Ocean City, Fishing Pier.
