About the tides at Fort Hamilton

Fort Hamilton has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The average range is about 4.6 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 6.0 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 4.5 ft.

Fort Hamilton is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 2 min and lows about 7 min later than there. The nearest other station is USCG Station Ny, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 7 min later. For tidal currents, see The Narrows.

Predictions are based on Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock.
