About the tides at Fort Macon

Fort Macon has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier. The average range is about 2.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 4.8 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 2.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.6 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −1.2 ft on January 23.

Fort Macon is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier: highs come about 17 min and lows about 18 min later than there.
