About the tides at Gadsden Point
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.7 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Tampa, Old Tampa Bay. The mean range is small, about 1.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.5 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 3.0 ft. Neap tides follow on October 22, when the range shrinks to 1.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.3 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 21.
Gadsden Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Port Tampa, Old Tampa Bay: highs come about 39 min and lows about 24 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1975 to 1976 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Long Shoal, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 22 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Cut A Channel, marker '10', Hillsborough Bay.
Predictions are based on Port Tampa, Old Tampa Bay.
