About the tides at Gerrish Island

Gerrish Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Portland,casco Bay. The range is large, about 8.3 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 11.0 ft on December 25, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.

Gerrish Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Portland,casco Bay: highs come about 2 min and lows about 3 min earlier than there.
