About the tides at Glebe Point

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.2 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Virginia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.5 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 0.5 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.8 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Fleeton Point, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Sandy Point, east of.

Predictions are based on Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
