About the tides at Travis Point

Travis Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Washington, Potomac River. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Virginia stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.6 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.5 ft on January 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Washington, Potomac River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
