About the tides at Hobcaw Point

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Wando River Entrance, Hobcaw Point, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. With a mean range of about 5.4 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.9 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.5 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 4.1 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 7.1 ft on October 1 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on January 23.
