About the tides at Hollywood Beach, West Lake, south end
Hollywood Beach, West Lake, south end has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut. The mean range is small, about 2.0 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 2.9 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 1.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.0 ft on September 29, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 23.
Hollywood Beach, West Lake, south end is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Miami Beach, Government Cut: highs come about 62 min and lows about 105 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1973 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Hollywood Beach, 8722979, 0.7 mi away, where high tide comes about 25 min earlier. For tidal currents, see South Port, at the terminals.
Predictions are based on Miami Beach, Government Cut.
