About the tides at Indian Key
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. On a typical day the water moves about 2.0 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.9 ft, comes on Monday, and the smallest, 1.5 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.3 ft on October 28 and bottom out at −0.5 ft on January 21.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Key West, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Indian Key Anchorage, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 27 min earlier.
