About the tides at Isle of Palms Pier
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The average range is about 4.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.5 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 6.6 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 3.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.6 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.3 ft on January 23.
Isle of Palms Pier is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 25 min and lows about 28 min earlier than there.
