About the tides at Jupiter Inlet
Jupiter Inlet has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance. On a typical day the water moves about 2.4 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.3 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 1.3 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.6 ft on September 29 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1973 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Jupiter Sound, 0.7 mi away, where high tide comes about 32 min later.
