About the tides at Long Hill
Long Hill has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The range is large, about 6.8 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.4 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 8.2 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 6.4 ft.
Long Hill is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bridgeport: highs come about 43 min and lows about 73 min later than there.
