About the tides at Milford Harbor
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor. The range is large, about 6.3 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.9 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −1.2 ft on January 23.
Milford Harbor is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor: highs come about 2 min and lows about 3 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1987 to 1988 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gulf Beach, 1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Charles Island, 0.8 mile Sse of.
Predictions are based on Bridgeport, Bridgeport Harbor.
