About the tides at Lynch Cove Dock

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. With a mean range of about 8.0 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 12.1 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 12.9 ft, comes on Tuesday, and the smallest, 7.0 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 14.0 ft on January 25 and bottom out at −4.2 ft on December 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Allyn, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 48 min later.
