About the tides at Machiasport
Machiasport has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Eastport, Passamaquoddy Bay. Machiasport sees a mean range of about 11.9 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.0 ft on January 23 and bottom out at −1.8 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Eastport, Passamaquoddy Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Cutler, Naval Radio Station, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 9 min earlier.
Predictions are based on Eastport, Passamaquoddy Bay.
