About the tides at Mathias Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.1 ft. The mean range is small, about 1.0 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Virginia stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 1.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 0.8 ft.
