About the tides at Mill Creek
Mill Creek has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. Water here rises and falls only about 1.6 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.1 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 1.0 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.2 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.5 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Manahawkin Creek, 0.9 mi away, where high tide comes about 18 min later.
