About the tides at Mill Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Portland, casco Bay. The range is large, about 8.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 11.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 6.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 11.2 ft on December 25, and the lowest is −1.8 ft on January 23.

Mill Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Portland, casco Bay: highs come about 35 min and lows about 43 min later than there. The nearest other station is Robinhood, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 21 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Upper Hell Gate, Sasanoa River.

Predictions are based on Portland, casco Bay.
