About the tides at Mostyn Cove

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. On a typical day the water moves about 1.22 m between high and low. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.81 m, comes today, and the smallest, 0.68 m, on October 19.

Predictions for Mostyn Cove come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1996. The nearest other station is Jeanette Bay, 5.9 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
