About the tides at Mt. Pleasant Plantation

Mt. Pleasant Plantation has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at CHARLESTON (Customhouse Wharf). Water here rises and falls only about 1.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.2 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 1.5 ft, on Sunday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at CHARLESTON (Customhouse Wharf), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1981 to 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Winea Plantation, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 15 m earlier.
