About the tides at New River Inlet

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier. The average range is about 2.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 4.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 2.2 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.4 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 23.

New River Inlet is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier: highs come about 16 min and lows about 17 min later than there. The nearest other station is Sneads Ferry, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 41 m later.
