About the tides at Niyrakpak Lagoon entrance
Niyrakpak Lagoon entrance has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Nome, Norton Sound. The mean range is small, about 0.6 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 1.2 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 0.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.8 ft on July 11, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on May 9.
Niyrakpak Lagoon entrance is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Nome, Norton Sound: highs come about 267 min and lows about 271 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Savoonga, 26 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 10 m earlier.
