About the tides at North Bay

North Bay usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. The pattern follows the reference station at Unalakleet. Water here rises and falls only about 1.6 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.8 ft, comes on October 30, and the smallest, 1.2 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.5 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.3 ft on December 11.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Unalakleet, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Stebbins, 10 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 13 m earlier.
