About the tides at Pikmiktalik River entrance

Tides at Pikmiktalik River entrance are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at Unalakleet. On a typical day the water moves about 2.4 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.1 ft, comes on October 30, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.3 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.5 ft on December 11.
