About the tides at North Fork

North Fork has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.3 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 0.2 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.5 ft on September 29 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1972 to 1973 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Stuart, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min earlier.

Predictions are based on Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
