About the tides at Nut Island

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Quincy Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The range is large, about 9.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 10.2 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 11.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 8.8 ft.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 2000 to 2001 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Weymouth Fore River Bridge, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later. For tidal currents, see Nut Island, 0.2 n.mi. NNE of.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
