About the tides at Edisto Beach

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Edisto Island, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 5.7 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 6.9 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 4.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.5 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.

Edisto Beach is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 21 min and lows about 29 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1973 to 1982 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Carters Dock, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 29 min later.
