About the tides at Orcas

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.3 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet. The range is large, about 5.2 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is smaller than most Washington stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 29, with a range of 10.6 ft. Neap tides follow on October 27, when the range shrinks to 2.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 9.0 ft on December 26, and the lowest is −3.2 ft on July 4.
