About the tides at Shaw Island

Shaw Island has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Townsend. On a typical day the water moves about 4.7 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Washington stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 8.8 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 3.0 ft, on October 11.
