About the tides at Peak Island
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Portland, casco Bay. The range is large, about 8.7 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 11.5 ft on December 25, and the lowest is −1.8 ft on January 23.
Peak Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Portland, casco Bay: highs come about 4 min and lows about 8 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Cushing Island, 0.7 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later. For tidal currents, see Diamond Island Roads.
Predictions are based on Portland, casco Bay.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
