About the tides at Pierce Harbor

Pierce Harbor has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay. On a typical day the water moves about 3.7 ft between high and low. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 4.9 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.1 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.6 ft on December 25.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Suisun Slough entrance, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 23 min earlier.
