About the tides at Pilot Island

Pilot Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 7.9 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most South Carolina stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 10.2 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.

Pilot Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 110 min and lows about 84 min later than there.
